Yes, these dreams we dream do come true. They don’t come true because we have a thought and throw it out to the universe. These dreams come true because we are moved to action to make sure they do come true.
The first time I thought of writing a book, I was just a kid. I had written a short story for a school assignment – a contest to write the scariest Halloween story. And then the impossible happened: my story won!!
At that moment, my fifth-grade self decided that I would be a writer. It took a mere 40 years for me to act on that decision. Driving home a few years ago, I had an idea for a book. This book would share stories of people who changed their lifestyle following a cancer diagnosis. No, I hadn’t had a cancer diagnosis myself that changed the course of my life. I read a book that included a phrase: “It is impossible for cancer to develop in an alkaline environment.” I folded the page over, did some research, and learned a lot about the power we have when faced with a serious health situation.
This one phrase rekindled a sense of curiosity to find out more about cancer. Was there really more to treatment than surgery, chemo, and radiation? You betcha! Do we really have the ability to influence the ways our genes present? Oh. My. Goodness. Yes we do!
I’ve read more books on cancer than I would have thought possible, gone to conferences filled with inspiring speakers, and talked with cancer conquerors from all parts of the country. The generosity of these cancer survivors to share their stories is overwhelming. As I continue to gather information for my book sharing some of these stories, I decided to release an eBook to lend a hand to those who have been diagnosed with cancer. Download the free eBook, Heal Your Cancer: 12 Bold Questions to Ask on Your Journey to Health, here and share it with anyone you know who might benefit from it.
My fifth-grade dream is becoming a reality – thanks to my action and the support of friends, family, and a group of amazing cancer conquerors. I’d love to hear how you’ve made your dreams come true. Contact me directly, or leave your comment below.
In my own experience of transforming “impossible” to cure health issues, I truly believe that “there is always another way”. An individual way that we have to find for ourselves, regardless of what the outside world, (including the experts), might tell you is possible.
There is a movement I am part of, the Unwavering Strength book movement, and many of the stories by co-authors are of surviving cancer, as the initiator of the series lost five close family and friends to cancer in a very short amount of time. Do you have the power to change the course of our lives? Absolutely and that is why I also wrote my book “Confessions of a Middle-Aged Hippie” to share my stories of surviving the most dire of predictions for me and my well being.
This is wonderful that you are offering others an opportunity to ask themselves some tough questions. The transformation only comes by taking responsibility for ourselves and for taking the actions our inner guidance tells us are the right choices for us. There is always hope and always another way!
Thanks so much, Beverley, for your comments. As always, your insight is spot on. I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the feedback from people who have healed their cancer – whether through conventional means, conventional and complementary care, or alternative methods. What I’ve learned is that there are many paths to health, and we always have choices. Many brave people have made the right choice when pressured by “experts,’ friends, families to do otherwise. Hope has become one of my favorite words for sure!!
Deb, I love this! Congratulation to you to recognize how much you have accomplished along the way. I admire all the work you are putting into your book while responding to an immediate need you saw in the cancer community. You and I have a lot to celebrate!
Thanks Jodi! I appreciate all of your support along the way. Yes, lots to celebrate!!
What is so interesting is that you were attracted to the field of cancer survival without, fortunately, experiencing it. I grew up in an era where we couldn’t say the word, but referred to it as the big C. Will keep your list of questions in mind if ever faced with cancer.
This is incredible news, Deb! Thanks for sharing the realization of your dream here and for making the results available to us. Look forward to reading it!
Thanks Nydia – appreciate your reading the post and downloading the book! Please drop me an email with any feedback you’d like to share about the 12 questions.
Yes! Dreams really do come true. The difference between a dream and a fantasy is that a dream can be achieved with planning and action. Love it!
Yes, that fantasy land life can be dangerous! Making dreams happen is just plain fun. Navigating the publishing world is quite the ride as you know!!
How important it is to do what you’re doing Deb. Like many others out there I have lost several loved one to this crazy disease. I applaud you. <3
Thanks Norma – following my heart with this one.
Oh I love your mission Deb, helping people diagnosed with cancer is the biggest gift you can give to help in their recovery. Sadly the statistics reveal that 1 in 3 people will suffer from some form of cancer or another so the demand is increasingly high for people like you.
Being a proverbial optimist and a bit of a dreamer myself, I’m one who believes dreams do come true. In every moment we are creating our reality by our thoughts, intentions and deeds.
You set your intention at an early age and so conspired with the Universe to create your heart’s desire. Lovely story of hope, determination and I like to think, a little magic thrown into the mix!
Thanks for reminder that we all have the capacity to realise our dreams! 🙂
Thanks for your thoughtful comment:) And, yes, I agree that a little bit of magic is sprinkled on all of our successes.
Grateful I’ve had the time to research the relationship around cancer and lifestyle. I’ve had an opportunity to talk with so many cancer conquerors and learn about their journeys to health. Biggest takeaway: there are many paths to health.
I have also downloaded your book and so thank you immensely for it! (please add to my original comment) thx x
Thanks for the download! Please pass along to anyone who might find it helpful.
Hi Deb,
Enjoyed your post! Yes dreams do come true if you are motivated and do the work that needs to be done to make your dreams a reality 🙂 Though I do wonder about this whole law of attraction thing? Mindset is important as well to making your dreams come true too!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
Hi Joan – Thanks for weighing in on this one. I agree that the law of attraction and mindset are powerful. What we throw out to the universe comes right back at us!
It is so interesting what pops into our head, or sticks with us when we encounter it. Dreams do come true. I have found that this happens for me at such unexpected times and I learn so much. I have always been a hard worker, then I met my boyfriend. My dream of true love came true and wow – have I learned SO much! I learned how to really be vulnerable. I learned how to slow down and that work isn’t everything. I learned what is was like to have and be a true partner. And I learned that dreams do come true often when you least expect it.
Good for you, Lynn, for listening to your intuition and acting on what’s important. Lots to be learned when we make the time to pay attention.
